Making Paul Thompson's Bass
I was contracted by bassist Paul Thompson to create a bass for him. We had exchanged many emails regarding the project in an attempt to make the EXACT bass that he wanted. From the beginning, he was involved with the shape, dimensions, woods, electronics, basically everything...
Paul chose a 3-piece neck with swamp ash body sides. One "Quad-Coil" Bartolini pickup in the "sweet spot" with Treble, Middle w/push-pull frequency selection, and bass. There is also another toggle for pickup wiring options for furthering his sound palate. He was able to swing by to check out the production of his instrument and provide a couple comments before it was finished. The timing was perfect, I was able to implement the changes he requested pretty easily...
